Zuma Engineering and Research is an emerging small enterprise in the energy management industry. We have no proprietary relationship to any singular technology or manufacturer. We partner with other enterprises to offer a full complement of services (engineering, contractor, project management and energy expertise) to support energy savings/efficiency and onsite power projects. Our partnerships will provide commercial, industrial and institutional energy efficiency studies and upgrades for existing (and new) properties and onsite powers systems (e.g. solar arrays and microturbines). Our goal is to maximize returns for our clients and target only optimum tractable project/technology alternatives. The following is a summary of our energy management services:
Energy Assessment
- Analysis of local utility electric tariffs to determine electricity costs/savings
- Determination of building electrical load/consumption profile relative to energy efficient equipment based on electrical engineering input or data from power bills.
- Identification of energy saving improvements (repairs, processes, routines, equipment)
- Analysis of opportunities for use of solar, microturbine and fuel cell waste heat, including options like pre-heating boiler water or an HVAC system absorption chiller
Cost Analysis
- Tracking all applicable (current and pending) government and utility rebates and tax incentives to accurately reflect them in financial analyses and meet application and procedural deadlines.
- Detailed spreadsheet cash flow modeling of potential projects, providing all capital cost, installation and operating cost variables and a range of pre-/after-tax data like payback periods and internal rates of return.
Energy Management Plan
- Develop operations and maintenance plans for all energy saving improvements - tailored and simplified to customer and building specific variables.
- Review options and identify the best onsite power technology, if applicable, to further reduce energy costs.
- Strengthen customer plans for energy certifications (U.S. Green Building Council, Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) and Energy Star).
On-site Power Solution Services (Partner provided)
- Pre-development of system design parameters, and energy efficient equipment like lighting, HVAC and other building systems, for input with architects and electrical engineering.
- Competitive bidding amongst competing manufacturers to ensure the best pricing, and based on project specific bid specifications that facilitate comparison of competing proposals.
- Construction management for microturbine/fuel cell/solar system installations, ensuring compliance with contracting terms, reviewing payments and meeting safety, utility and local government requirements .
